Fruta Font: Turning Produce Stickers into Playful Typography
Published Mar 2, 2026
Buenos Aires-based designer Yai Salinas reimagines the humble grocery store aesthetic with Fruta, a vibrant color SVG font inspired by the graphic language of fruit stickers. This personal project translates the overlooked artistry of produce labeling into a fully functional typographic system.
Yai crafted each character as a standalone sticker, working with punchy primary tones and grainy, offset textures that mimic physical print. Instead of going for traditional font uniformity, the collection explores a playful mix of geometric silhouettes. These detailed labels even include fake serial numbers and produce names, making everything look more authentic.
Fruta is designed for impact, not restraint. Short words, punchy headlines and poster-sized compositions are where it shines, while long paragraphs and small sizes are intentionally out of scope. The project captures the charm of everyday packaging ephemera and scales it up into something loud, joyful and powerfully graphic.
