Ferdi B Dick’s Playful Sculptures Take on New Shapes and Surfaces
Published Aug 12, 2025
Since we last featured Singapore-based artist Ferdi B Dick, his whimsical world of plump, cartoonish characters has expanded in both form and material. Known for his bronze and polished metal creations, Ferdi has recently ventured into crystal, wood and other mediums, each bringing a fresh dimension to his signature style.
These new works keep the instantly recognisable curves, exaggerated features, and cheeky personalities that run through his practice, but now they glow with the translucency of crystal, radiate the warmth of smooth carved wood, or carry the tactile feel of granite. From dragon-like figures rendered in radiant colors to long-eared hounds captured in flowing wooden forms, each sculpture feels caught in a moment of playful animation.
Despite exploring new materials, Ferdi’s approach remains the same, blending craftsmanship, humour, and a strong sense of character into works that can’t help but make you smile.
